Introduction:
Located in the mountainous area of Tianjin's northern Ji County, the Huangyaguan Great Wall was first built during the North Qi Dynasty (550 - 557) and repaired in large scale with bricks during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). When appointed as the chief commanding officer in the Ji Garrison (one of the eleven garrisons of the Ming Dynasty), Qi Jiguang added watch towers and other defensive works.

The Huangyaguan Great Wall comes out first in the ten most-visited sites in Tianjin. It is considered to be a miniature of the Great Wall. The entire section is built o­n an abrupt mountain ridge. Being endowed with both natural beauty and cultural interest, it has become famous as a natural beauty spot and a summer resort. The major scenic area is composed of Huangyaguan Pass and Taiping Mountain Stronghold.
Tianjin falls within the temperate zone, and, being a port city in northern China, it is frequently affected by tidal air currents. The annual average temperature in Tianjin is about 13 degrees C. July is the hottest month, with the temperature above 26 degrees C., while January is the coldest, when below freezing temperatures can be expected. The annual precipitation of the city is not much, although occasionally plagued by monsoon weather in summer time. Despite the fact that there are cloudless skies almost two-fifths of the year, it is suggested that travelers visit Tianjin in autumn, when it is neither too hot nor too cold.

Huangyaguan Great Wall Features

Highlight:
The Huangyaguan Great Wall is 28 kilometers north of Ji county. Originally built in Tianbao 7th of North Qi Dynasty (550 - 557), the Huangyanguan was repaired for the first time in Ming Dynasty with bricks and for the second time in 1985. In 1986 it was listed as a key relics protection target of Tianjin city. Now it is also chosen as a patriotic education and national defense education base of Tianjin.
With various forms of water towers presented along the walls, and the largest tower of the Great Wall “Phoenix Tower” and the most unique “Baguaguan Castle”, Huangyaguan Great Wall is like a library of the Great Wall.

Huangyaguan Great Wall Fee and Opening Hours:
1. Admission Fee: RMB 40 yuan / person. Children taller than 1.2 meter should buy tickets. Tickets are not allowed to be returned.
2. Opening Hours: all day
3. A discount can be made for handicapped with warrants.
4. Tickets free for Soldiers on active duty.
5. The tickets are available o­nly for o­ne time.

Traffic:
Traffic to The Huangyaguan Great Wall is of convenience. 
1. Jinwei Highway and Baoping Highway stretch directly to The Huangyaguan Great Wall.
2. For the convenience of Tianjin-Ji County Freeway and Bejing-Jinhai Lake Freeway, it o­nly takes about o­ne hour from Tianjin or Beijing to The Huangyaguan Great Wall.
