Mausoleum of the 72 Martyrs is located in south foot of Baiyun Mountain,covering an area of 160,000 square meters. It was erected in honour of the martyrs during Guangzhou Uprising ,United League led by Sun Yat-sen.

In April 27,1911,United League held an uprising in Guangzhou. To people's sorrow,the uprising was defeated and 72 persons died in this uprising. one of the members of United League,Pan Guowei risked his life to collect the remains of the 72 martyrs and buried them in Honghuagang. Later,The name was changed into Huanghuagang,Huanghua in Chinese means chrysanthemum and this kind of flower is the symbol of these martyrs.
